Notes: Title in English: [Biological and ecological study of the cochineal Matsucoccus feytaudi (Coccoidea, Margarodidae, Xylococcinae) of the maritime pine in southeast France: IV. Biotic potential and population dynamics.] The fecundity of M. feytaudi is highly variable; it may range from 100-500 eggs/female for the summer generation; the average is apprx 316. A correlation exists between size, weight and fecundity of females. Average fecundity varies from station to station, i.e., 280-360. Variations are linked to the weak condition of the plant, which is largely dependent on the time elapsed since the attack. Microclimate had minor effect on fecundity. The percentage of males varied from 37-62% for the summer generation and 40-60% for the winter generation. This ratio is changed by the noncoincidence of hatching of male and female young at different stations and in different years. Mortality rate at the various stages is variable.
