Ricci, C., & Stella, I. 1988 [Rodolia cardinalis Muls. (Coleoptera Coccinellidae): retrospect of one hundred years study and biological control using Pericerya purchasi (Mask.) (Rynchota Monophlesidae).]. Atti XV Congresso Nazionale Italiano di Entomologia [Conference held 13-17 June 1988, in L'Aquila, Italy.] L'Aquila, Italy 1070 pp.
Notes: November 30, 1988 marks the 100th anniversary of the introduction of Rodolia cardinalis Muls. into citrus groves in California to control Pericerya purchasi Mask. On the occasion of XV Italian Congress of Entomology, we dedicate this work to the entomologists and others who have worked for the introduction and diffusion of this predator. The most important aspects considered regarding R. cardinalis are: a brief history of its introduction into other zoogeographical regions, observations on morpho-biological and feeding behavior, feeding competition with other predators of P. purchasi and influence of R. cardinalis on development of Pulvinaria floccifera (Westw.).
