Rawat, U.S., & Sangal, S.K. 1993 Influence of quality of food and host density on the ovipositional behaviour and longevity of predatory beetle, Chilocorus bijugus Mulsant.. Journal of Insect Science 6(1): 109-110.

Notes: Abstract: Studies on the influence of various levels of San Jose scale, Quadraspidiotus perniciosus population and nature of different food materials on the ovipositional behaviour and adult longevity of this predatory coccinellid; previous research indicated that beetles did not lay eggs at low host density (less than 10 scales/ sq cm); at moderate and high host density, eggs laid per female varied from 25 to 57 and 35 to 128 respectively; in case of low, moderate and high host density levels, the average longevity of female predator ranged, 17-31, 25-46 and 36-68 days respectively; the mated females did not lay eggs when provided with honey-agar medium, honey-agar medium + cotton and cotton + currant diet but survived for 10.4, 12.0 and 9.2 days respectively.
