Notes: [VIII International Citrus Congress, 12-17 May 1996, Sun City, South Africa.] A three year study (1993-1995) of pest management practices has been developed on 35 citrus orchards located in eastern Sicily. The key pest was the citrus mealybug Planococcus citri. Pest control was achieved by applying a strategy based on monitoring, use of biological control, well timed application of selective insecticides and optimal cultural practices. Leptomastix dactylopii was released, occasionally supplemented by Cryptolaemus montrouzieri. Other species mentioned include Aonidiella aurantii, Parlatoria pergandii and Insulaspis gloverii.
