Notes: Title in English: [Eco-ethological studies on a cottony cushion scale injurious to olive in Tuscany: Euphilippia olivina Berlese & Silvestri (Rhynchota, Coccoidea).] Detailed information is given on the distribution, food-plants, life-history, habits, natural enemies and control of Filippia follicularis Targ. (Euphilippia olivina Berl. & Silv.), which infests olive in Tuscany, Italy, but not usually in sufficient numbers to cause economic damage, owing to heavy egg predation by chamaemyiids and coccinellids and to the activity of other predators and parasites. In places where the climate is usually favourable to the scale and permits the development of large populations, sufficient control is usually afforded by normal tree pruning since infestation occurs on the exterior branches.
