Notes: Abstract: This scale is a pest of commercial citrus in Australia, New Zealand, southern Europe, northern Africa, North America and Mexico; cladistic analysis of the wax scales predicts a native range for C. sinensis within Central or South America; cladistic analysis also predicts geographical origin of three other widespread wax scale species as Afrotropical: C. ceriferus, C. rubens and C. rusci. Keywords: scale 12.
