Peña, J.E., & Duncan, R. 1999 Seasonality and control of arthropods on carambola cultivars in Southern Florida.. Proceedings of the 112th Annual Meeting of the Florida State Horticultural Society No. 112: 210-212.
Notes: [Conference held at Stuart, Florida, USA, 31 October - 2 November, 1999.] Seasonality and damage levels of aphids, mealybugs, stink bugs and scales on 14 carambola cultivars grown at Homestead, Florida, USA, were monitored from October 1997 to October 1998. The highest plumose scale (Morganella longispina) infestation peaks were observed in B10. Plumose scale was most common during November 1997. A trial with insecticides against plumose scale was conducted in a 10-acre block of 10-year-old carambola trees located near Homestead, Florida. All products effectively reduced plumose scale density compared with the control (untreated). Product efficacy was observed 14 and 34 days after treatment (DAT). Pyriproxyfen and imidacloprid continued to be effective 79 DAT.
