Park, S.-C., Wi, A.J., & Mori, K. 1994 Flight of Matsucoccus thunbergianae males and their response to the synthetic sex pheromone (Homoptera: Coccoidea: Margarodidae).. Korean Journal of Applied Entomology 33: 250-256.
Notes: More males were flying around the tree crown than near the ground. A dispenser loaded with 50 mg of the pheromone appeared to affect the density of male flights at distances of less than 10 meters. Sticky traps with 50 microg of the pheromone appeared to affect the density of male flights at distances of less than 10 meters. Sticky traps with 50 microg of the pheromone attracted flying males, but those with 1 microg were not effective. In a forest with high crown closure, monitoring new M. thunbergianae infestations with pheromone traps was much more effective than egg sac surveys, the customary detecting procedure. Mating disruption was not achieved by placing 32 mg of pheromone in a space of 1 x 1 x 1 m.
