Notes: In order to update the information on the taxonomy of these insects, ultrastructural variants from different populations of Pseudococcus elisae from 11 Costa Rican banana producing farms are presented. The characters studied by SEM, showed differences regarding to ostioles, cerarii, oral rim tubular ducts and multilocular pores. In the present investigation it was determined that mealybugs identified as P. elisae in the banana crop, show a series of ultrastructural variants of great taxonomic value, which could be considered in the future as other descriptive characters within the classification of the species.
