Notes: The coccinellid Nephus reunioni was introduced into the USSR in 1978 and has reduced populations of Planococcus ficus and P. citri on vines following its release in various southern areas of the country. It possesses certain advantages over Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, notably in its plasticity relative to moisture. Studies have indicated that while overwintering is possible (with high mortality) under USSR conditions, the most promising approach to its use will be that of seasonal colonization. Initial controlled tests on effectiveness have given good results.
