Ohgushi, R. 1956 Studies on the host selection by two parasitic wasps, Anicetus beneficus and A. ceroprastis. 3. Analytical study on the differences in host selection of A. beneficus seen between the first and the second broods.. Zoological Magazine. Tokyo 66: 183-186.
Notes: Anicetus beneficus shows two generations a year, the first emergence takes place in June and the second in September. On the other hand, host scale, Ceroplastes rubens, has one generation in a year, the new generation appearing in June or July. Therefore, the first brood of this wasp commonly attacks the young stage of scales, the second brood attacks the matured stage. Experiments revealed new information about host selection.
