Notes: [Conference title: [Transactions of the 5th Daily Working Group for Insect-Plant Relations.] Actes des 5e journées du groupe de travail relations insectes-plantes. Conference held in Montpelier, France 26-27 October 1995.] The contribution of cellular biology to an understanding of the mechanisms of plant resistance to pests and diseases is discussed. Review of modern techniques of molecular cytology which permit following the development, in the plant, of a molecule in the course of its action, determining its distribution at the tissue and cell level and visualizing it in relation to sites of infection and localization of the causative agent. The photomicrographs presented were obtained in studies on the plant-parasite systems including cassava-Phenacoccus manihoti.
