Nalepa, C.A. 1987 An inexpensive trap for monitoring scale parasitoids in the field.. Journal of Entomological Science 22(1): 55-56.

Notes: This trapping method involves shaping a 35-mm film canister to fit a scale-infested (Pseudaulacaspis pentagona) branch and drilling a hole into the side of the canister and into the cap of a 35 X 12-mm glass vial which is then fitted over the hole in the canister. The assembly is suitably attached to the branch. Emerging parasitoids are attracted to the light provided by the vial, where they are collected. This method thus avoids damage to the tree and is selective and simple to operate. The trap can be moved about on the infested tree.
