Murray, D.A.H. 1978a Effect of fruit fly sprays on the abundance of the citrus mealybug, Planococcus citri (Risso), and its predator, Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant, on passion-fruit in south-eastern Queensland.. Queensland Journal of Agricultural and Animal Sciences 35(2): 143-147.

Notes: The effects are reported of three insecticidal treatments used against Dacus tryoni (Frogg.) on populations of Planococcus citri (Risso) and its main predator Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Muls. on passion fruit in south-eastern Queensland in 1975-76. Only 0.03% dimethoate (as a cover spray applied fortnightly) was also effective against P. citri. Fortnightly sprays with 0.1% DDT against D. tryoni resulted in increased numbers of P. citri, because of the destruction of C. montrouzieri. Bait sprays with 0.55% malathion and 0.5% protein hydrolysate applied weekly to trellis posts that supported the vines appeared to have no appreciable effect on the mealybug or its predator.
