Notes: Abstract: California red scale (Aonidiella aurantii) is suppressed to very low densities by the parasitoid Aphytis melinus; the system also appears stable; this report tests the hypothesis that stability is caused by a refuge for scale, in this case, bark in the interior part of grapefruit trees; influence of ants considered.
