Morrison, R.K., & King, E.G. 1977 Mass production of natural enemies.. Biological Control of Augmentation of Natural Enemies: Insect and Mite Control with Parasites and Predators. Plenum Press New York 480 pp.
Notes: [Proceedings of a symposium held at the Fifteenth International Congress of Entomology, Washington, D.C., August 19-27, 1976, and other selected papers.] Numerous large-scale rearing programs have used unnatural hosts for production of predators and parasites due to reduced production costs, convenience and ease of handling. Examples include Aphytis lingnanensis on Aspidiotus nerii for control of Aonidiella aurantii. Plant hosts for rearing the citrus mealybug, Planococcus citri, and Aonidiella aurantii are potato sprouts.
