Moore, W. 1934 Fumigation experiments with the California red scale under orchard conditions.. Journal of Economic Entomology 28: 1042-1055.
Notes: Under controlled conditions in the laboratory it was found that temperature and relative humidity influenced the results of fumigation of the California red scale, Aonidiella aurantii Mask., from certain areas. A series of field experiments have been conducted in several orchards in which the red scale is known to be difficult to kill. The experiments were carried out to determine the effectiveness of the regular 100% dosage of hydrocyanic acid under different climatic conditions. In these tests, only trees which had not been exposed to drift gas were fumigated since it was previously shown that drift gas is a complicating factor.
