Notes: The present work covers the Coccidae and nine small families; for each family, keys to identify the genera and species are given. A detailed taxonomic illustration of each species is provided and the illustrations should be referred to when identifying species. For each species, pertinent taxonomic literature is arranged chronologically, and details of collection localities and host-plants in Iran are provided. Colour photographs of the live appearance of some of the species, and distribution maps for most species, are also provided. There is also an index to the scale insect species plus a list of their host-plants, listed alphabetically within plant families. Finally, there is an index to the genera, species, and higher taxa of the Iranian scale insects in the ten families covered here, to aid the reader in locating desired information.
