Moghaddam, M. 2000a The first record of Dynaspidiotus tener (Bazarov & Schmelev) (Hom.: Diaspididae) in Iran.. Plant Pests and Diseases Research Institute 20(1): 111-112.
Notes: D. tener, collected on the branches of Ephedra sp. from Golestan National Park, is recorded for the first time from Iran. Morphologically, the species is very similar to D. ephedrarum, formerly reported from Iran, but differs in terms of the following characteristics: (i) the scale of D. tener is circular and bright grey, while that of D. ephedrarum is broad oval or circular and white; (ii) D. tener possesses up to 10 dorsal ducts on its prepygidium, while D. ephedrarum has 20-30 dorsal ducts; and (iii) D. tener lacks the plates lateral to the third lobe. The species has also been reported from Tajikestan and West Pamir.
