Milaire, H.G. 1969 [Practical use of Prospaltella perniciosi Tow. in the control of San José scale in French orchards.] Utilisation pratique de Prospaltella perniciosi Tow. dans la lutte contre le pou de San José dans les vergers français.. Rapport de la Conférence international OEPP/OILB sur le pou de San José. Series A, No. 48. Organisation Européene et Méditerranéene pour la Protection des Plantes (OEMPP) Paris 111 pp.
Notes: [Sponsoring organization also called European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EMPPO). Conference held in Milan, Verona, 24-26 June 1968.] Co-ordinated chemical control of the San José scale is feasible, but difficult, as the infested orchards are often small scattered holdings. In 1950, biological control of the San José scale by its parasite Prospaltella perniciosi Tow. was initiated and after acclimatization experiments in France, Germany and Switzerland, an OILB Working Party on the biological control of the San José scale was formed, developing a working program for the use of the parasite in 1956. The programs are reviewed in this report.
