Mendel, Z., Nestel, D., & Gafny, R. 1994 Examination of the origin of the Israeli population of Matsucoccus josephi (Homoptera: Matsucoccidae) using random amplified polymorphic DNA-polymerase chain reaction method.. Annals of the Entomological Society of America 87: 165-169.
Notes: This pernicious scale of Aleppo pine, Pinus halepensis, in Israel; recently discovered in northeastern Mediterranean on brutia pine (P. brutia brutia); may not be indigenous to Israel, as previously thought; application of statistical inference to pooled data show that patterns of DNA fragments display a positive association between Israeli and Cypriot populations and a negative association between Israeli and Turkish populations; suggestion that M. josephi spread to Israel from Cyprus.
