McClure, M.S. 1990 Cohabitation and host species effects on the population growth of Matsucoccus resinosae (Homoptera: Margarodidae) and Pineus boerneri (Homoptera: Adelgidae) on red pine.. Environmental Entomology 19(3): 672-676.
Notes: Abstract: Performance of P. boerneri feeding on both the branches and needles of Pinus resinosae was significantly reduced by the presence of M. resinosa, which fed only on the branches. The presence of P. boerneri had no significant reciprocal effect on the fitness of M. resinosae. Competition occurred among these insects but did not limit the growth of pest populations to a level at which the host could benefit. y
