Masutti, L. 1983 Leaf-sucking arthropods in forest biocenoses.. Atti XII Congresso Nazionale Italiano di Entomologia. Rome, 1980, pp. 357-369.

Notes: The interactions of forest trees and sap-sucking mites, Thysanoptera and Heteroptera Rhynchota are reviewed from the literature and discussed, with examples. Serious imbalance leading to economic damage is not usually caused by these arthropods in natural forest biocoenoses but rather in artificial plantations, especially those of unsuitably mixed tree species or in unfavourable conditions. The causes of the devastating outbreaks of Matsucoccus feytaudi Ducasse in pine forests of Provence, France, and Liguria, Italy, are so far unknown.
