Martoglio, P.A. 1992 . The application of microspectroscopy to dyed fibers and the vibrational assignment of tetronic acid. Miami University, Ph.D. Thesis Miami, Florida 226 pp.

Notes: [Ph.D. Thesis; J.E. Katon, Advisor.] The experimental procedures for the infrared analysis of dyed fibers were developed by studying Acid Red 52 dye on wool. It was determined that the dye could be detected on a single fiber at concentrations as low as 0.01% wof (weight of dye on fiber). Using the infrared techniques developed above, seven different anthraquinone dyes and their dyed wool counterparts were studied. The effects of mordanting were also investigated. Cochineal and the extract from Galium aparine could be identified with infrared microspectroscopy.
