Notes: [Additional authors: Tommasini, G., Waage, J.K., vn Lenteren, J.C. & Zeng, Q.-Q.; key papers presented at the First International Symposium held at Montpellier, France, 17-20 October 1999.] A four-year research project is described, and early results are presented. The project focuses on arthrood biological control (using both microbial and macrobial agents), and uses literature review, case studies with empirical work and various types of modelling to illuminate risk to non-target organisms. Target species listed include Aspidiotus destructor, Dysmicoccus brevipes, Planococcus fragilis and P. kenyae.
