Notes: The photochemical deconjugation reaction of an alpha beta-unsaturated ester is applied to the synthesis of one of the components of the San Jose scale pheromone, compound. The use of a weak organic base as a means of control of the regiochemistry of the deconjugation reaction was demonstrated.
