Notes: Information is given on the biology and behaviour of Pollinia pollini] (Costa) on olive as a result of field and laboratory observations in Sicily, where it presented more of an economic problem than in mainland Italy. It had one generation a year, and the adult females overwintered. The eggs hatched immediately after deposition and were laid over a period of 2 months, beginning in March or April. Male nymphs attached themselves to the upper surface of the leaves, to smooth parts of the twigs, to the growing shoots and to the peduncles, while the female nymphs settled on the growing shoots, in the leaf and twig axils and in cavities produced by various factors including attack by Phloeotribus scarabaeoides (Bern.). Damage caused by Pollinia pollini consisted of drying and withering of growing shoots and malformation of the leaves.
