Lintner, J.A. 1889 A lady-bug attack on scale-insects.. Report of the State Entomologist (42nd Report on the State Museum) 42: 266-267.

Notes: [In Fifth report of the State Entomologist on the Injurious and other Insects of the State of New York.] A number of Austrian pines, Pinus austriaca, in Washington Park, Albany, were observed as having been very nearly killed by an attack of the pine-leaf scale insect, Chionaspis pinifolii. Further observation revealed the presence of an abundance of Chilocorus bivulnerus. As these lady bugs emerged from their larval cases, they fed on the scales and decimated the population.
