Notes: Title in English: [To the knowledge of the Polish cochineal scale, Porphyrophora polonica (LINNAEUS, 1758) (Sternorrhyncha, Coccina, Margarodidae), in Germany.] Abstract: At the beginning of July 2008 the Polish cochineal scale, Porphyrophora polonica (Linnaeus, 1758), was found near Rottleben in the SW-Kyfthauser mountains, Germany, on roots of 3-4 years old plants of Gypsophila fastigiata. From a total of 23 cysts (diameter 1.9-4.1 mm) during three weeks 21 adult females (length 2.8-6.0 mm) emerged, with 10 of them producing egg-sacs, but only 7 also laid eggs (8-190). The species has been refound in Germany after about 50 years (1955 by Schmutterer in Rhineland-Palatinate), and at the Kyfthauser mountains after 90 years (1918 by Schumacher at several localities). Historically, for Germany about 30 localities (in 12 actual federal countries) up to the 18th/19th century, and further 26 localities (in 8 federal countries and in Berlin) on Sc1eranthus and Gypsophila up to the mid-20th century are documented. In Germany (like in Poland), the species seems to be considerably declined.
