Notes: This scale insect occurs as a pest of sugarcane in many parts of peninsular India and in certain pockets in North India also. Heavy infestation of the pest was observed in 1962-63 in Bardoli area of Surat district in Gujarat state. The control measures suggested in this report are segregation of heavily infested pockets and chemical treatment of infested crop and seed-cane.
