Huffaker, C.B., & Doutt, R.L. 1965 Establishment of the Coccinellid, Chilocorus bipustulatus Linnaeus, in California olive groves.. The Pan-Pacific Entomologist 41: 61-63.

Notes: This species is known to be effective for control of Aspidiotus perniciosus in Morocco and Quadraspidiotus schneideri in Austria. It did not establish after three attempts on citrus infected with Coccus citricola and olives infected with Saissetia oleae in California. In another experiment it was released to control Parlatoria oleae, but again did not establish. However, on all occasions when the coccinellid has been found in abundance, fair to high densities of this P. oleae were present, as well as S. oleae. Two additional factors discussed are the extensive use of insecticides and migratory habits.
