Notes: The first instars of the type-species of the nominal genera of Howardiina (Howardia biclavis), Rugaspidiotina (Rugaspidiotus arizonicus), and Xerophilaspidina (Xerophilaspis prosopidis) are described and illustrated. The subtribe Xerophilaspidina is probably correctly placed in the Diaspidini based on the first-instar of the type-species of the nominal genus. However, on the same basis, the subtribes Howardiina and Rugaspidiotina may be more closely related to the Lepidosaphidini and Odonaspidina, respectively.
