Honiball, F. 1975 [Prospects for biological control of red scale Aonidiella aurantii (Mask.) in the citrusdal area.. Proceedings of the First Congress of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa, Stellenbosch, 1974. Entomological Society of Southern Africa Pretoria 273 pp.

Notes: [Original title: Moontlikhede vir die biologiese beheer van rooidopluis Aonidiella aurantii (Mask.) in die Citrusdalgebied.] A. aurantii is the most important citrus pest in the Citrusdal area. Here the insect is being controlled to a verying degree by two parasites, Aphytis africanus and Habrolepis rouxi, as well as by a range of predatory beetles. Unfavourable climatic conditions hamper these natural enemies, and therefore various attempts are made or suggested to improve the situation in problem orchards. Two introduced parasites, Comperiella bifasciata How. and Aphytis melinus were released and especially the latter is at present well established.
