Notes: Asterolecanium bambusae was originally described as Chermes bambusae by Boisduval on Bambusa arundinacea and B. distorta from Algeria. This pit scale insect is one of the most common insects on bamboo in Florida and occurs wherever bamboo is grown. This review briefly describes the scale and gives information about the distribution, economic importance and chemical control.
