Hafez, M., & Saad, B.M. 1969d An indication of the role of parasites in the control of the black scale, Chrysomphalus ficus Ashmead, in U.A.R.. Agricultural Research Review 47(3): 111-116.

Notes: An experiment was conducted with the purpose of evaluating the rate of natural mortality of the black scale, Chrysomphalus ficus Ashm., and the role of parasitism in causing this mortality. For about two years, weekly collections of adult females of the scale were sampled from a Ficus nitida tree, and not treated with insecticides. Two parasites were identified, and life cycle data were provided. Parasitism is found to play a major role in controlling populations of this black scale in U.A.R., and the recommendation is made that spraying not occur in periods of high parasitism.
