Greathead, D.J. 1978a An East African parasite (Aphytis roseni DeBach and Gordh, Aphelinidae) for the control of Selenaspidus articulatus Morgen (Diaspididae) in Peru.. East African Agricultural and Forestry Journal 41(4): 349 pp.

Notes: This account of the collection of Aphytis roseni DeBach & Gordh in Kenya and its shipment to Peru in 1971-73 for the biological control of Selenaspidus articulatus (Morg.) on citrus there, includes a report that the source of the aphelinid [and host] has been given, wrongly, as Uganda [see RAE/A 64, 1098; 66, 2717]. Although A. roseni had been found (with a species of Aspidiotiphagus and Habrolepis rouxi Comp.) parasitising S. articulatus on coffee in Uganda, the shipments (of Aphytis roseni and H. rouxi) were significantly parasitising S. articulatus collected on Ficus sp. in Kenya. S. articulatus was also found in numbers in 1974-75 in a hedge of Kei apple (Dovyalis caffra) in the Nairobi area, Kenya, where the scale was usually heavily parasitised by A. roseni and H. rouxi.
