Graham, J.C., & Streibert, H.P. 1996 Resistance management for California red scale, Aonidiella aurantii (Mask.): insecticide resistance action committee guidelines.. Proceedings of the International Society of Citriculture I: 649-651.
Notes: [VIII International Citrus Congress, 12-17 May 1996, Sun City, South Africa.] The red scale of citrus (California red scale in the U.S.) has long been the most notorious pest on citrus in many citrus producing countries. A limited number of insecticides may be used for effective control alongside biological control utilizing native or introduced natural enemies. In addition, the control of ants, which otherwise disturb and reduce parasitoids and predators, is essential. In order to maintain good efficacy of the insecticides recommended for the control of red scale, a workable and practical resistance management strategy, that also takes account of the biology of the pest, its natural enemies and associated ant communities, was needed. However, the control practices of Aonidiella aurantii differ significantly in each country, and in many places there is a lack of rotation partners for insecticide control.
