Notes: An analytical study on the biological control of agricultural pests in Chile is presented. All instances of introductions of beneficial species are considered, including those of insects, mites and weeds. A preliminary evaluation is made of the establishment and degree of effectiveness of beneficial species. Biological control of Icerya purchasi is discussed. Other targets mentioned include Aonidiella auranti, Aspidiotus hederae, A. perniciosus, Ceroplastes ceriferus, Coccus hesperidum, Eulecanium persicae, Lepidosaphes beckii, Pseudococcus sp., Saissetia coffeae and S. oleae.
