Notes: [Paper presented at the XVI International Congress of Entomology, Kyoto, Japan, August, 1980.] A review is given of the various methods used to manage the numbers of red scale Aonidiella aurantii on citrus in South Africa. A combination of the above methods can be used very effectively in keeping red scale numbers under the economic threshold but may fail when natural enemies are eliminated by chemicals used against other citrus pests. Other scale species mentioned include Coccus hesperidum and Gascardia brevicauda.
