Gautam, R.D., de Chi, W., & Lessey, M. 1997 Preliminary studies on inoculative releases of Australian beetle Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant and another Indian ladybird, Scymnus coccivora Aiyar against pink mealybug, Maconellicoccus hirsutus Green at Point Fortin.. Proceedings of the 1st Seminar on the Hibiscus Mealybug. Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources Centeno (Trinidad and Tobago)

Notes: [Conference: 1. Seminar on the Hibiscus Mealybug. Farmers' Training Centre. Centeno (Trinidad and Tobago). 12 Apr 1996.] Studies revealed that inoculative releases of adult Cryptolaemus Montrouzieri and Scymnus coccivora arrested the population trend of Maconellicoccus hirsutus infesting several plants including hibiscus, soursop, citrus, cashew, ochro, sorrel and cactus which had initial infestation levels ranging from 1-32 ovisacs, 1-60 nymphs and adults as well as numerous crawlers at terminal shoots. Absence of crawlers after twenty (20) days, presence of empty ovisacs and predatory larvae indicated the effectiveness of exotic ladybirds and their possible establishment at Point Fortin.
