Notes: This study concerns the biotic potential of Dysmicoccus cryptus (Hempel), the most widespread pseudococcid root mealybug occurring in Guatemalan coffee plantations. The different stages of development are described and breeding techniques for use in an insectarium are proposed. The biological characteristics of this mealybug were determined in laboratory studies. The roles of temperature and diet on individual rate of development, type of reproduction, fecundity and survival coefficient were examined.
