Conference held in Milan, Verona, 24-26 June 1968.] This pest was first recorded in Turkey in 1962 in the Samsun area on the Black-Sea coast, but soon afterwards also inthe Marmara region and recently along the Aegean coast. Risks are highest in the Marmara region where climatic conditions are most favourable. As far as control is concerned, cultural methods (roguing, pruning) are complemented by the application of chemical treatments both in winter and in summer. Efforts are also being made to develop biological control and further help from EPPO/OILB would be desirable in this respect.
