Ding, D.C., Pan, W.Y., Tang, Z., Xie, G., & Weng, J. 1992 Host preferences of Coccobius azumai (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae), a parasitoid of Hemiberlesia pitysophila (Homoptera: Diaspididae).. Contributions of the Shanghai Institute of Entomology 11: 35-42.
Notes: Coccobius azumai exhibits sex differentiation in host relations; male is ectophagous hyperparasitoid and develops on immature individuals of its own species and other Hymenoptera species occurring in a mummified H. pitysophila adult female; female parasitoid lays male eggs on mature larvae, prepupae and early pupae of females when females of its own species were utilized as hosts; size of female parasitoid directly correlates with host size.
