Notes: [Original title: Onderzoekingen omtrent Pseudococcus citri (Risso, 1813), de compolanluis van de koffie, en Haar bestrijding.] This paper reviews the biology, ecology and epidemiology of this coffee mealybug in East Kava. Mealybug infestation is only serious in the dry season; it is sporadic in the rainy season, provided that the ant, Plagiolepis longipes Jerd. is absent. It is also known the P. citri is generally more abundant in poorly shaded than in heavily shaded plantations. Lamtoro, Leucaena glauca, a shade tree, is its primary host plant in plantations above 2000 ft. Above 2000 ft. mealybugs pass from the lamtoro to the coffee trees. It mainly in infests the flowers and the pods. At lower altitudes coffee and some greenmanurers are the primary host plants. Different methods of control are required depending on the altitude. The effect of temperature, predators and parasites are also examined.
