DeBach, P. 1971a The use of imported natural enemies in insect management ecology.. Proceedings Tall Timbers Conference on Ecological Animal Control by Habitat Management, No. 3. Tallahassee, FL

Notes: [Conference held Feb. 25-27, 1971 in Tallahassee, Florida.] Recent examples of successful biological control of insect pests given in this general discussion of the topic include the control of Chrysomphalus ficus Ashm. by Aphytis holoxanthus DeBach of Lepidosaphes beckii (Newm.) by A. lepidosaphes Comp. in Brazil, of Chrysomphalus dictyospermi (Morg.) in Sicily, and Aonidiella citrina (Coq.) and A. aurantii (Mask.) in Turkey by Aphytis melinus DeBach, of Chromaphis juglandicola (Kalt.), in California by Trioxys pallidus Hal., and of Aleurothrixus floccosus (Mask.) in Chile by Amitus spiniferus Breth. The importance is stressed of the use of new natural enemies in the development of ecological pest management programmes.
