Davidson, J.A., Miller, D.R., & Nakahara, S. 1983 The white peach scale, Pseudaulacaspis pentagona (Targioni-Tozzetti) (Homoptera: Diaspididae): Evidence that current concepts include two species.. Proceedings of the Entomological Society of Washington 85: 753-761.

Notes: Abstract: Taxonomic history; proposal that P. pentagona actually comprises both P. pentagona and P. prunicola, the white prunicola species; characteristics used to distinguish between the species include body microstructures, egg colors, host differences, distribution patterns, life history differences and host transfer data; new data given on synonymies, morphologies, hosts, distributions and life histories; first instars and second-instar males of each species were studied but no conspicuous species differences were found.
