Compere, H. 1963 A new species of Habrolepis parasitic in Chrysomphalus aurantii Mask.. Bulletin of Entomological Research 27: 493-496.
Notes: The California red scale, Chrysomphalus aurantii, Mask., is probably the most important coccid pest of citrus, although other species, notable Lepidosaphes beckii Newm. and Chrysomphalus aonidum, Linn., are injurious to citrus over a greater geographical range. No other citrus-infesting coccid more quickly and permanently injures a tree than Chrysomphalus aurantii. In areas where it has developed a resistance to hydrocyanic acid gas it is the most difficult of all coccids to kill. Distribution is also discussed.
