Compere, H. 1928b Successful importation of five new natural enemies of citrophilus mealybug from Australia.. California Citrograph 13: 318,346-349.
Notes: Pseudococcus gahani is generally distributed in Sydney, N.S.W., where it occurs very rarely on various ornamental plants, and in the fruit growing districts near Sydney occasional specimens were found on citrus trees. With one exception, no severe infestations were discovered. In the Sydney area at least six different kinds of natural enemies were found preying upon citrophilus. Five of these natural enemies were successfully introduced into California. The rarity of citrophilus in Australia is thought to be directly due to the activity of these natural enemies. Biological control of Pseudococcus citri and Icerya purchasi is also discussed.
