Notes: The armored scale, Melanaspis deklei Deitz & Davidson (Coccoidea: Diaspididae), was reported for the first time in the state of South Carolina, U.S.A., in 2008. A study was conducted in 2009 to 2013 to 1) better understand its life cycle, 2) document its distribution in the states of Georgia (GA), North Carolina (NC) and South Carolina (SC), and 3) document its host range in the urban landscapes of SC.
