Chiu, C.H., & Kouskolekas, C.A. 1980 Observations on reproductive biology of tea scale, Fiorinia theae Green.. Journal of the Georgia Entomological Society 15(3): 327-331.

Notes: Tea scale was reared in the laboratory and observations were made on various aspects of its reproductive biology. The sex ratio of tea scale colonies was 2:1 in favor of the males. Adult males mated with several females within a short time. After a preoviposition period of 8-9 days, adult females deposited nearly three eggs per day during the first 4 days of oviposition. Females of unknown age produced slightly less than 1 egg per day over a period of one month. The fecundity of this insect was higher than reported in the literature.
